While an activity is open, Medvind asks its server for weather about every five minutes, through the Garmin Connect app on your phone. Each request contains:
The position, heading, speed and altitude are used to look up the forecast where you are and along the way ahead. The device ID is used only to limit how often one device can make requests.
To get the forecast, the server asks MET Norway's weather API for the grid cells around you. MET Norway receives the position of those cells and, near you, the altitude. It does not receive the device ID.
Requests are kept in the server's logs at Cloudflare, which hosts it, for up to 7 days, and then deleted. They are used to find faults and to see how well the forecasts work. Nothing else is stored about you: there are no accounts, no profiles, no advertising and no tracking, and the data is not sold or shared with anyone else.
Questions, or a request to delete your data: medvind@inge.dev.
